On behalf of the Elders at Park, I want to encourage you to follow the small “leadings” that you may have felt as you’ve considered the challenges set before us through this season of Preparing for More. However it’s come across to you – through our small group study, Sunday’s messages, or even this brochure – you’ll have to come to a point of deciding where to go from here, and what you believe God is challenging you to commit to.
We’ve talked about Esther and how God positioned her intentionally in a place of influence and opportunity. She had a choice to make. The weight of her decision, either way, could potentially come at a great cost. Yet she chose to put herself aside and be obedient to what she knew God was asking of her. She stepped out in faith, not knowing what the end result would be. Through her obedience, God blessed an entire nation.
That is what Preparing for More is all about: giving of our lives as an act of whole-life worship to God, eagerly anticipating His response to our acts of faithful obedience.
We’re stepping into a new chapter in the life of Park Community Church and we want you to be with us on this journey. You have gifts, talents, and passions to offer, and you were made for a purpose. And we believe you have a role to play in the great things God has in store for us as a church family.
What would Chicago (and the rest of the world) look like, if everyone at Park committed to praying, volunteering, connecting, including, and giving, as an act of worship? And now imagine if no one chose to do anything. A lack of action leads to a lack of blessing, at the very least.
The choice is yours. By not making a decision, you’ve already made one. Please don’t assume that “someone else will do it,” because what if they’re thinking the same thing? Don’t depend on someone else to do what God is asking you to do. Bring others into your decision-making process. Talk to your small group. Sit down with a mentor. Park Community Church can’t make this choice for you. It’s between you and God. And we trust that as you make your commitment individually, as a whole, God is going to do something incredible. Get ready for it, and prepare for more!
In Him,
Rod Penner, Preparing for More Chairman
